Introduction

In this tutorial we teach you a quick method for cleaning and removing sweat stains from a mattress. Mattress cleaning isn't difficult when you know how. With this simple mattress cleaning hack, you'll be sleeping on a clean and fresh mattress in no time!

Step-By-Step Instructions

How do you clean a mattress with hydrogen peroxide, in a simple way, that will remedy sweat stains?

Step One:
Start by assembling your supplies by pouring hydrogen peroxide into your bowl.

Step Two:
Apply the peroxide solution:

  • Take a cloth and dunk it in your solution. You don't need to saturate it; just enough peroxide will do the trick. You want to keep the mattress as dry as possible.
  • Start gently rubbing the peroxide over the stain with your cloth.
  • Let it sit for 5 minutes.

Step Three:
Rinse out the solution. We've used a steam cleaner, with an acid rinse in the tank. The jets spray water over the stain, while the vacuum pulls the water out.

If you don't have a steam cleaner, which is true for most people, use a damp clean towel to remove the peroxide.

Note: Acid Rinse - Mix 10 parts water to one-part white spirit vinegar.

Step Four:
Neutralise the peroxide with an acid rinse and then dry your mattress. Lightly spray your acid rinse over the area and gently use a towel to dry it off. Do not rub, but rather dab when using a towel. Allow to completely dry before using the mattress.

  • To make your acid rinse, mix 10 parts water to one part vinegar in your spray bottle and mist over the peroxide solution.
  • If you wish, you can use a damp, clean cloth to wipe it over again. Do not saturate the mattress.
